Back in the noughties, I made a little website that did Google searches for various queries, scraped the total number of hits from the results, did some simple maths and plotted a chart.

It got harder and harder to keep up with search engines blocking screen scraping (fair enough) and later on, updating their APIs or lowering their free tier usage limits.

It would be fun to bring it back again, but only if a reliable data source can be found.
