History

The idea was conceived in June 2000, and born in December 2000 under the name compare-stuff.com. After a few months of development and testing it was made public during March 2001.

It is similar in concept to the following phrase based "web-ometers": SpellWeb, Jim's Public Opinion Research Project, AltaMeter, popularimeter (Swedish only). You might find them more suitable when you need to measure absolute popularity on the web, but we hope that compare-stuff.com meets all your relative popularity measurement needs!
